Dear Parents,
The students have been really busy getting ready for our second grade program on October 9th. The program is all about Georgia.
In Social Studies, the students are learning about Georgia’s regions, rivers, famous people and songs. I can’t wait to see their amazing performances.
Now, the students can take an Accelerated Reading test on the computer daily. We went to the media center and selected books on their reading levels last week. You can go to the Baker blog to find the Accelerated Reader book list for your child’s reading range. The reading range is highlighted on the attached paper. The students are encouraged to take test on picture books, read alouds, and chapter books.
In writing, we are working on narratives. Our narrative must include a setting, characters, problems and solutions, and details.
We have been reading picture graphs and bar graphs, tally marks, and charts in math. The students drew picture graphs and bar graphs on their own. They will create a class birthday graph.
We are studying matter. Ask your child: Does Matter Matter? Then, you will know if they understand the importance of matter. We will continue studying matter and completing experiments.
Thanks to Ms. Reid for sending tons of snacks and spoons to our class. Thanks to Ms. Rosado for bringing tasty chocolate cupcakes to celebrate Adriana’s birthday. Thanks to Ms. Johnson for bringing delicious cookies and juice boxes to celebrate Ellaya’s birthday.
Room Mother Wanted!!!
Our class needs a room mother. Please send a note if you can volunteer. Thanks in advance for all your help!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lewis
