My Experience:
This will be my 13th year teaching for Cobb County Schools. I have been a classroom teacher in 3rd and 5th grade. I was the Title One Teacher where I concentrated on teaching reading and math to 1st graders and a phonics program to 4th grade struggling-readers. During this time I maintained a resource library of games and manipulatives to assist the school's tutoring program. Then I became an EIP teacher and I taught reading and math to 1st and 3rd graders. This will be my 5th year at Baker as a 2nd grade classroom teacher.
Education:
I received both my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Technology from Kennesaw State University.
Personal Stuff:
I am proud of my Brittish/Canadian heritage. I grew up in a small summer resort on Lake Huron in the thumb of Michigan. My husband and I have one daughter who is also a certified teacher! Happily, she shares my love and facination of helping children grow. We've lived in Woodstock for 20 years. My hobbies include reading, walking, bike riding, chess, bridge, tennis, golf and boating.
Philosophy:
I believe regular communication with parents will build confidence and promote the strength of each child. Please call or e-mail me anytime about anything. joanne.boyee@cobbk12.org. (770)975-6629
