First Grade
Reading- The link below is for the first 50 sight words that the boys and girls need to know. We have been practicing at school but you may use this link at home. Remember that they should be able to recognize by sight and not be sounding out the words within 4 seconds.

Kindergarten
This week we will learn about Fire Safety Week! The boys and girls will learn about ways to stay safe incase of a fire and to be able to show you the STOP, DROP, and ROLL technique. The state of GA wants all Kindergarten students to have a fire escape plan for home. On Thursday, I will ask each child about his/her escape plan at home. Your child should also be able to orally tell me his home address and phone number. If you don't have a home phone, please make sure your child knows your cell phone number.
Language Arts- we have been assessing upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet and the kindergarten sight words. Your child should be able to read at least 5 words.
Math- we will count sets to 5. We have been practicing writing our numbers with correct formation. At Calendar Math we have practiced the penny and nickel as well as their values.
Nurse Sue will be coming in this week to talk about proper handwashing. The boys and girls are forgetting to wash, some just rinse their hands under the water for a few seconds, and some aren't even drying hands. This is also on the report card, so please talk to your child about it at home.
