News For Jan. 12-16. 2009
This is going to be an uneventful week, our only truly "normal" week this month. I look forward to getting back into our regular schedule and really making the most of it.
The only change this week is that we will no longer be having "Thinking Skills" lessons with Mrs. Aufderheide every Friday. Due to Target testing recently concluded with 1st, 3rd, and 5th, Mrs. Aufderheide had to change her schedule. She will now work with us every other Friday, for which we are grateful. The students have completed working on "inventive" and "detective" thinking. We are now working on "scientific" thinking.
This comes at a great time with the upcoming "Science Fair" in February. Information came home last week with a brief explanation of the types of projects eligible for K-2 participants. If your child wishes to conduct an "experiment", just photograph the process at home so that it can be pictured on a posterboard display along with a written description of the process. The first grade winner last year was from my class, so I have a reputation to uphold!!! I look forward to seeing what the students come up with. They display a lot of scientific curiosity during classtime. I hope they will want to carry it one step further.
Don't forget that Six Flags 6 Hour sheets are due in February. I hope that you are remembering to record your child's reading on the sheet I sent home before the holidays. What a great opportunity to earn a free ticket!
Have a great week! See you at the end of the month.
