Happy New Year

Class notes from Mrs. Farmer and Mrs. Hockey: 

    We are starting off the new year with a BANG!!!!!  We are getting very serious about our role as a 5th grader as the second half of the year starts.  Ms. Hockey and I are looking forward to seeing parents next week during conference week.  We have heard from almost everyone, there are a few conferences that have not been confirmed. Please respond soon. 

The 2nd Nine week Auction will be held on Friday, February 6th.  Please help by sending in treats or rewards that benefit the students.

Happy Holidays

Holiday Party News:

Holiday Party is tomorrow, we are all set.  Pizzas have been ordered.  Thank you for your donations!!! Tomorrow we will eat, drink soda, play board games, watch a movie and be merry.

Holiday Party News: The kids have decided to eat pizza from Little Caesar’s on December 19th.  This is the last day of the 2nd 9 weeks and the last day before the winter break.  As a reward, we will be playing board games, eating pizza, and watching a movie.

We are asking for a $3.00 donation for pizzas. Please send in the $3.00 before the party.  Thank you !!!!

P.S.  We are also accepting dessert donations too !!!!!!!!

Class Notes:

The “Mystery Genre Project” is going very well.  We’ve had very creative game boards turned in and shared.

           Due Dates:  November 14th (Novel completed and 2nd assignment due)

                                       November 21st (Final assignment due)

· We’ve enjoyed making friends with our book buddies in Ms. Pittman’s 2nd grade class

· We’d love to have more pencils donated.  They are going FAST….

· Remember to check your child’s immunization record.  They will probably need a booster in order to be registered for middle school.

Class Notes

· Please sign and return Academic Progress Report

· End of first nine weeks is October 10th.  Report cards go home October 17th.

· October 24th is a BIG DAY for us.  In the morning, we will have several science experiment stations set up for Science Day.  If you are available October 24th to help with a station, please let me know.  We would love to have you help with a station.  (My goal is to have 5-6 science experiment stations, and we would need your time from 8:00– 10:00ish.)

· Also on October 24th, we will have our first 9 Week Auction.  We will need donations for this auction.  In the past, large candy bars, candy bags, cheap toys, have been donated.

· Early Release September 16th (Tuesday) dismissal at 12:20

           (Sept. 17-19th)

· ITBS Testing 

           (Sept. 22-26)

· Please sign and return the Academic Progress Report.  As stated at Open House, Academic Progress Reports are  current grades for each student.  They will be completed every 2 weeks along with the newsletter and weekly work that is returned.  Any retests or missing work will be averaged when then are turned in. (Penalties for late assignments)

· Please continue to sign agendas,  I use agendas for correspondence.

  Dear Parents,          

           It has been an exciting first week in fifth grade.  We are getting to know each other and developing that “family” spirit.  We are having a blast getting to know everyone.  It was great meeting you at “Sneak a Peek” , and  We are looking forward  to seeing  you again during Open House.
