5th grade 1 pt. perspective

All 5th grade classes will be studying 1pt. perspective. Students will then use this technique to draw a cityscape. Learning 1pt. perspective can take time and practice, therefore I would like to see students practicing at home. Don't forget to ALWAYS use a ruler!

Here is a great link which shows each step:

Step By Step Directions

If this becomes too easy try 2 pt. -

3rd Grade Edible Color Wheels!

3rd grade is getting ready to study the color wheel. A fun way I have found to do this by creating edible color wheels using vanilla wafer cookies, and white frosting. The art department is looking for donations of either a box of vanilla wafer cookies or a tub of white frosting.

Thank you for your help!!!

Excited for 2011 & 2012 School Year!

Welcome Back!

Dear Parents,

I am very excited to start this school year and looking forward to having a great year! Similar to last year, each grade level will create at least one three dimensional piece and will be exposed to a large variety of different artists, art forms and art materials. Projects will range from sculpture to painting and printmaking.

Although almost everything we use in the art room is washable, accidents do happen, so please do not send your child to school in their best clothes on their art day. If you do not know when your child has art, please contact their classroom teacher or E-mail me to find out.

This year I am asking for parent volunteers to help with hanging artwork in the hallways, preparing art materials, and preparing for this year’s art show. I would love to have an art room parent. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please let me know. With more help, the opportunities for unique, special art lessons are endless.

I hope to make this school year an enjoyable learning experience for your son or daughter. If you have any questions, please feel free to E-mail me at:Stephanie.Olson@cobbk12.org. Once again, I am very excited to have this opportunity to participate in your child’s learning process and education!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Olson
