What's "HOP"pening!?!

Copy_of_froggetsfly_2 Hello!  I am so glad you "LEAPT" into my blog!  I will alert you when I have posted something new so you can "HOP" in and check it out!!
We are working on addition and subtraction in Math.  Extra practice at home would really help!  We write a lot and I am encouraging the students to think about how letters are formed.  We've also learned that a sentence always begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.  (Ask your child to tell you what each punctuation mark sounds like!)

This week you are working on a name activity.  It is not due until Friday so take your time and make it look nice.  It will be made into a class book.  Don't forget that Book Orders are due on Friday!

Thanks again for your prompt response to all of my paperwork requests.  If you need to reach me, feel free to send a note or you can email me at kim.schweizer@cobbk12.org.

Week of September 8th ~ 11th

Hello, I hope you had a great, long weekend!!  I was at home with strep throat last week but I am feeling better and so glad to be back at school.  I received so many compliments about how well behaved and hard working this class is.

Remember that this week we will be taking the CogAT test on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.  It will be first thing in the morning so make sure your child gets to bed early, eats a good breakfast, and gets to school on time.

We are still focusing on addition and subtraction in Math.  Subtraction has been difficult for many.  Continue to review at home.  Let me know if you need ideas on ways to help your child.

We continue to learn about "Our World" and landforms.  Make sure your child knows about: mountains, plateaus, coasts, plains, valleys, & deserts.  Soon, we will begin a unit on weather. We'll keep a weather journal and chart the conditions each day.  Each child will have the opportunity to be our class weather boy/girl.

For homework, your child is bringing home a HOT TOPICS list for you to help them fill out.  This will be kept at school & referred to often.  They are due back on Friday.  A special Grandparents activity is also coming home and is due NEXT Monday.

Thanks for "Leaping" in to see what is "Hoppening" in Ms. Schweizer's Pad!!

Welcome Back!!! 2009-2010 should be an Un"frog"etable year!!!

I can't believe it is already the 2nd week of school.  We still have 10 boys and 8 girls in our class. Thank you parents for getting back all of the important papers I needed last week.  This week you will be working on a special name activity.  Please read the directions page carefully.  Write neatly in pencil and color neatly with crayons.  These are due on Friday.  I hope you enjoyed the ice-cream social last week.  What a nice PTSA activity.  If you still haven't joined PTSA, it's not too late!!  I would love for our class to be 100% this year.  It is $4 to join.  Have a great week!!
