Welcome To 3rd Grade

First of all, I am so excited to be working with both the students and families that make up our learning community! Third grade is full of opportunities to grow and explore our world. It is also a time when students are learning to become more independent and responsible for their learning.

My blog can help you in the following ways:

*   Links to help with the curriculum

*   Important dates and events

*   Updated as needed (not on a daily basis)

About Ms. Zaragoza

I started teaching at Baker Elementary as a Supply Teacher 12 years ago. My bachelor degree, from Boston University, was in German Language and Literature. I returned to Kennesaw State University to add Early Childhood, and began to work fulltime at Baker. I completed my Master's at Kennesaw State (2009) and my Specialist degree in Early Childhood at Georgia State (2010).

I love teaching! When I am not with your children, I am mom to my two sons, both of whom will be in college this year. Sean will be a junior, and Greg will be a freshman. It certainly will be quiet around my house this school year! However, Becca, a black lab mix, and Eclipse, an adorable kitten we rescued, will love the extra attention.

I'm originally from New England, but have lived in the southeast for 30 years now. I love getting outdoors and am an avid runner and biker. April 2011 I completed my 1st duathlon, and on August 7th I completed my 1st Tri Sprint!! It was great fun and I'm looking forward to doing more of both in the future.

Setting new goals and challenges is exciting!

Do you listen to NPR (90.1 FM). I often do, and yesterday I heard about their "Back Seat Book Club". It sounds like a great way to share your interest in reading. At the end of the month they interview the aurthor and you can send in questions and pictures that will be shared. Check it out!

Thank You and New Vocab Website

Thank you so much for attending your your child's conference! I'm excited and looking forward to seeing more growth from the students. Your support and encouragement at home are an integral part of their success. Keep up the good work!

As mentioned, building your child's reading voacbulary is very important to increasing their comprehension. I just discovered that wordly wise has a good site. It pronounces the word and reads the definition to you. Be sure to have your child check it out!
