Hello! My name is Vina Evans, and I welcome you to the fourth grade at Baker! I am excited about being your 4th grade teacher this year and I look forward to a wonderful year of fun and learning.
The fourth grade is considered the beginning of the intermediate grades. Grades K-3 are the primary grades where children spend the majority of their time learning the “how to” skills such as “how to” read, write, add, and subtract.
Grades 4-5 are the intermediate grades where children take the “how to” skills and apply them to extend and build their knowledge. The expectations for fourth grade can be challenging for children due to a rigorous curriculum. Higher demands are expected in the areas of working smart, time management, organizational skills and being active listeners.
For this reason, I feel that it is very important that parents, students, and the teacher must work together to help our children have a successful year at Baker Elementary!
